The Canning College Library Learning Centre provides users with a quiet, friendly environment where they can study, relax and become lifelong learners.
The library includes areas for quiet independent study, group and tutorial work and a reading lounge for relaxation. The Library contains two computer labs for online learning and a seminar room.
Library resoures can be accessed from any computer on the College Intranet. Remote access is available through the student portal.
The collection includes fiction and non-fiction books, newspapers, periodicals and DVDs. Computers are also available for word processing and have access to various online databases, the Internet, email and other software. A print cell includes photocopying, printing and scanning facilities.
The Learning Centre is situated within the Library and students are provided with individual assistance by lecturers from their subject areas.
Students present their ID card when borrowing material from the library. Virtually all material may be borrowed. Materials in the Closed Reserve collection are used in the Library during the week and can be borrowed for the weekend. The Closed Reserve collection contains past examination papers and items in heavy demand.
Canning College requires research assignments to be referenced using either the APA or Chicago format. Library Teachers are available to provide tuition in research and referencing.
