I work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and external agencies to develop, implement and evaluate effective strategies at an individual, group and systems level within the school.
School Psychologist are qualified to provide specialist psychological assessment, intervention and consultation for staff and students in the following key areas:
- Mental Health and Wellbeing
- Emergency and Critical Incident Support
- Positive Parenting Support
While I am skilled in a broad range of counselling techniques, I have a particular fondness for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This very refreshing apporach is different because it does NOT pathologise the normal human experience. ACT is versatile and is highly successful as it can quickly enable students to gain personal insight, learn strategies to cope with painful emotions, and take action to begin living their lives in accordance with their personal values!
I highly recommend that all students and staff read "The Happiness Trap" by Dr Russ Harris, and watch his amazing videos online.
