A fine farewell at the 2019 graduation

25 October 2019

Congratulations to the Canning College Class of 2019, who last night received their completion certificates during a formal ceremony at Technology Park.

Goh Zi (Geoffrey), from Malaysia, won the Doug Russell Award as Canning’s top student, while Principal Commendations were won by Chloe Chee, also from Malaysia, and Yoon Jiin, from Indonesia. Outstanding achievement awards, sponsored by Commonwealth Bank, went to Lew Zhi Hong (Singapore) and Diandra Elizabeth (Indonesia). Overall, 19 awards were won by nine students.

A total of 134 students from China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Iran, Iraq, Indonesia, South Korea, South Africa, Kenya and Nepal received completion certificates for either the WA Universities’ Foundation Program or WA Certificate of Education. Many of these students will progress into Western Australian university courses and others will find their futures elsewhere in the world.

Thanks to all guests, some of whom came from overseas, and to guest speaker Dr Fei Sim, a former Canning student and now a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University.

We wish all students good luck in their final examinations and beyond.
