Course Overview

Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Higher education Preparation Studies (Commerce Stream) course guarantees international students entry into the Diploma of Commerce UWA stream or the Diploma of Commerce Curtin Stream. This course, which can also be used for direct entry into some Western Australian university courses, is available to both local and international students. Small class sizes, extra tuition time and appropriate subjects ensure that you will be extremely well prepared for your future studies.

Course Duration 20 weeks
Time Allocation 5 subjects, each for 5 hrs per week (1 x 1 hr and 2 x 2hr sessions each week)
Prerequisites

Age prerequisite:
International students need to be at least 16 years of age as of the 1 January of the current year.

International Student English Competency Requirements
  • WACE English 2CD, WAUFP ELACS: 50%
  • WACE EALD: 50%
  • GCE 'O' Level English, 1119: C6
  • SPM English: C6
  • HKDSE/FS English: Level 3
  • IELTS Overall Band Score: 5.5 or equivalent

Credit for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Canning College recognises prior learning by acknowledging competencies and outcomes achieved (skills, knowledge and attributes) held as a result of formal training and education (both within Australia and overseas), work experience and/or life experience. Students who have successfully completed similar units of study at another institution may be given credit/exemption for a module in the Certificate IV course.
