Year 11 WACE

Course Title Year 11 WACE
Course Overview

The Flying Start Bridging Program has been designed to help people who are seventeen years of age and over embark on a course of study which will take their level of education to the equivalent of Year 11.  It provides opportunities for career enhancement and personal and academic development.  We intend that the courses should meet the needs of all who choose to join the program and for this reason the content and teaching styles are student-focussed in their approach.

Each Flying Start Bridging to Year 12 subject runs for one semester (or two terms).  They are designed for students who have already successfully completed Year 10, or who have completed Flying Start.  Some students "convert" from Flying Start to Flying Start Bridging after one semester in order to study Year 12 subjects the following year.  It is also possible to apply for entry to some Flying Start Bridging subjects in Semester 1, completing them by mid-year. These students may opt to do other Bridging subjects, short courses or to return to employment and wait to enrol for Year 12 subjects in the following year. Other alternatives include mid-year entrance to State Training Providers and some university courses if students do Bridging subjects and then successfully sit for the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT).

Flying Start teachers are experienced in adult learning and the requirements for all subjects and pathways which follow these courses. The mixture of collaborative learning and individual learning needs ensures the engaged student an enjoyable and satisfying return to education. There are 25 subjects offered including English for second language speakers.
