Students who join the WA Universities’ Foundation Program in April 2022, will complete it in December and be ready to enter university in 2023.

Designed specifically for international students, the WA Universities’ Foundation Program will prepare you for entry into a variety of degree courses at many universities.

Online or on campus

If you are unable to travel to Perth, you do not have to delay your studies. You can start the WA Universities’ Foundation Program using our live and interactive online learning system. When travel resumes, you can complete your study experience with us in Perth, Western Australia.

Our online system was launched in 2020 and has already helped students enter top Australian universities, such as The University of Western Australia, University of Melbourne and University of Queensland.

What you get from us

Unlike many other Foundation Programs, the WA Universities’ Foundation Program is an academic program that prepares students for tertiary studies at many universities. This means you will improve your skills and knowledge in many subject areas, including English, as you achieve entry into a leading university.

In 2021, 84% of Canning College’s WA Universities’ Foundation Program students achieved the minimum standard for entry into an Australian university. These students recently started university courses in a wide range of areas including, Medical Radiation, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology, Animal Science and Nursing.

What you need

Students who have completed the equivalent of Year 11 (see table below) in their home country and have achieved an English standard equivalent to IELTS of 5.5 are eligible to enrol in this program.

If you haven’t met this academic standard, you can enrol in a Canning College Bridging Program that will prepare you for the WA Universities’ Foundation Program. You may also like to consider enrolling in the Certificate IV in University Access Program, which can be completed in just six months and leads directly into some university courses. The Certificate IV is also a pathway into our Diploma of Commerce, which is equivalent to first year university studies.
