A clear pathway to university
Canning College provides ambitious students with clear, focused pathways that lead to university success. Our Year 11 and Year 12 programs are designed to build strong academic foundations while developing the skills and confidence needed for higher education. Students who have spent fewer than two years in the Australian education system often choose the WA Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP), a year 12-equivalent program that is tailored to support a smooth transition into university.
Canning College helps students aiming for university by providing a calm environment where distractions are reduced and study can be prioritised. Teachers guide academic progress while encouraging independence and accountability.
As there is no local intake area, students from across Perth study alongside international students who are drawn from more than 30 countries and add significantly to the multicultural atmosphere of the College.
The learning model reflects a more mature approach. There are no uniforms, and students address teachers by their first name, which supports responsibility and readiness for post-school study.
Timetables may include gaps between classes, allowing students to manage independent study, revision and workload more effectively.
This combination supports both strong academic outcomes and preparation for university expectations.
